Lapping

To ensure leakage free Mechanical seal, its faces should be properly lapped and polished. We provide extra attention on this aspect as life of Seal is depending greatly on lapping and polishingWe use best grade of lapping compound and oils to ensure better finishing of surfaces. Flatness of faces are checked for 1-2 light band under Helium Monochromatic Light Source under optical instrument. Lapping is very critical process, hence wide experience and knowledge is required.We lapp various type of face in wide variety of materials like Carbon, Tungsten Carbide, Ceramic, Silicon Carbide, Chrome Oxide, Stellite, Ni-Resist, Phosphor Bronze, Chrome Steel etc. During any lapping operation, the parts being lapped will mirror the shape of the lapping plate therefore Lapping Plates should also be made flat before lapping the faces. We should remember during lapping or polishing that the lapping plate is neither too wet nor too dry. Proper quantity of Lapping Compound and Lapping liquid should be used depending upon type of Face material to ensure proper surface finishing. .
